The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has said that any candidates found to be involved in any form of exam malpractice in the 2019 UTME will have his or her result cancelled instead of deduction of marks as being speculated.
The Board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in an interview on Sunday in Lagos.
He stated that the rumour that JAMB was deducting marks from the scores of candidates with proven cases of malpractice is not true.
According to him, once any evidence of malpractice has been established against any candidate, the result of such candidates will be cancelled out-rightly.

He further explained that if the board establish any case of infraction or examination malpractice in any centre too, such centre will be shut down and the entire results of candidates who wrote in that centre from the commencement of the examination, which was April 11 to the end will automatically be cancelled.
He added that the affected candidates in such centres will be rescheduled immediately for the examination in another centre as was the case in some centres in Abia.
He added that the Board made several arrests of persons caught trying to undermine the integrity of the examination and process while it lasted, just like it shut down centres that fell short of standards.
Benjamin said that the Prof. Ishaq Oloyede-led JAMB has zero tolerance for any form of corruption, which includes examination malpractice.
