What should I score in Jamb CBT 2023? What is referred to as a high score when it comes to UTME? Which score is enough for me to get my first choice course at the University? These are the questions I shall be answering in this article.
First, it is advised that you follow the Flashlearners YouTube videos and install the CBT Software to blast this coming Jamb UTME with flying colors.
The minimum you should score in Jamb UTME is 200; irrespective of your course of study. Don’t aim to score anything lesser than 200. My recommended UTME Score is anything above 230.
It is true that Jamb sets lower cut-off marks for universities, polytechnics, and colleges of Education. Nevertheless, it is not recommended to score very close to the general cut-off mark. All things being equal, the higher your Jamb score, the higher your chance of gaining admission.
So, what should you score in Jamb? The answer is simply above 230. But don’t get me wrong. You can score below 230 and still gain admission to study a good course.
For example, I scored 229 in Jamb and 59 in Post UTME. That year, I gained admission to study Electrical/Electronic Engineering at the almighty University of Benin, Benin City.
Why? The performance of students in 2014 for both UTME and Post UTME was very low. For a year where students score very high in UTME, the mean score for admission will go up.
Let me ask you a simple question, why shouldn’t you aim at a score above 230 while preparing for Jamb CBT? You absolutely have no reason not to aim high. Simply prepare for the best but work with whatever result you eventually come out with.
From the above explanations, we have answered the meaning of a high score in Jamb. For me, a high score in Jamb is anything above 230… A good score in Jamb CBT is any score from 200. A score of 180 in UTME is pretty an average score. Following the current standard, anything below 180 is a low Jamb Score.
I have told you to to score in Jamb. I was also able to mention what qualifies a score to be a high when it comes to Jamb UTME. Then the big question, what score Jamb score is okay for admission?
There are absolutely range of scores that that guarantees your admission. And these scores depend on your choice course and school of study.
For most private schools in Nigeria, a score above 180 in UTME is pretty okay to gain admission in most courses. This is a result of fewer candidates apply to study in Private Universities and polytechnics.
For most state schools in Nigeria, a score above 200 in UTME is pretty okay to gain admission in most courses. For some courses and state universities and polytechnics, a score below 200 can fetch you admission. In Nigeria, State Universities and State polytechnics are pretty more competitive than the private ones.
For Federal Universities and Polytechnics in Nigeria, a score above 230 in UTME and high post Jamb score is pretty okay to gain admission in most courses.
