How Does JAMB CAPS Work?
Jamb follows a flow chart just before giving every candidate admission. These are the steps below:
STEP 1: SUBMISSION OF RESULTS OF JAMB CANDIDATES:
The first thing Jamb does is to send the names of each Jamb candidate to their respective universities. Their various information and results are delivered by Jamb to their respective institutions.
STEP 2: ACCESSING CUT OFF MARKS
Next, Jamb expects all institutions in the country to use the list provided to them to set their cut off marks for admission. These cut off marks are then sent back to Jamb for checks and balances.
STEP 3: JAMB CAPS AND INSTITUTION MEETING
After these cut off marks have been set, Jamb Caps Board meets with the necessary heads in tertiary institutions like the Vice Chancellors and Registrars. This meeting is done so as to make final agreements and verification on the already submitted cutoff marks.
STEP 4: CONFIRMATION OF ADMISSION CRITERIA
The next thing done is for Jamb Caps to confirm the admission criteria for all the various institutions. In terms of post utme screening and any other screening exercise. Also, the Jamb Caps capacity will be accessed.
STEP 5: DELIVERING STUDENTS RECORD
The various institutions are now expected to download the students result record from Jamb. This record of results will be used to access each student and see which students meet the institutions cut off mark and will be given access for the post utme screen if there be any.
