The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) is a branch of the executive arm that is charged by the government with safeguarding the lives and property of its citizens. Finance and Administration, Operations, Logistics, Force Criminal Investigation Department, Training, Research and Planning, and Information and Communication Technology are its divisions, each of which is led by a Deputy Inspector General of Police.

Because the Inspector General of Police is the highest-ranking officer and commander of the Nigerian police force, the country only has one serving Inspector-General at any given time.
